How it all started...
Like most writers, I was voracious reader, so it was only natural I would want to write my own stories and share them with the world.
At twelve years old I decided I wanted to be a professional writer and artist. I loved how authors could paint pictures in my mind with their words. It was magical and I wanted learn how to bring that wonder and joy to as many people as I could.
I write romance and most of it is paranormal or has paranormal elements. Although, I have written a Western romance (short story) and a contemporary romance, also a short story.
This year, I'm planning to write a Young Adult Gothic romance. The research is going to be fun.
My love for the Gothic Romance genre began when I started watching the original Dark Shadows television series (1966). The love of magic probably came from watching Bewitched.
The fantasy aspect probably came from Disney movies, stories of King Arthur and his Knights.
My favourite books growing up: A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle and the Nancy Drew mysteries. When chose to become a writer and artist in the sixth grade, I discovered historical romance at the Beech Grove Public Library and never looked back. Scottish historicals are my first choice of historical romance reads.
A note to my readers: All of my stories have love scenes. With heat levels from sensual to erotic. In case you don't know, erotic romance is not erotica, which I don't write.
If you're looking for closed door romance then my stories aren't for you. However, I also write nonfiction. You might find something of interest.
My love of cooking and hot tea turned into my first cookbook, The Scottish-English Texan: 56 Teatime Recipes. In the future I have another book planned but I don't have the focus narrowed down. I want the second book in the series to be more than a rehashing of general information.
I have another cookbook in the works and it's for dogs. It will feature treats, frozen treats, kibble and nutritional information as well as helpful links. My Cairn terrier, Smudge Alpin MacRuff is helping. He's the cutest taste tester!
